Set up memory with Obsidian

Choose Obsidian for shared memory or knowingly accept Dashboard-only limitations.

Overview

In full setup, an empty local Starter Vault is created and holds shared memory. If Obsidian is absent, the installer only directs you to its official download page; it does not install it automatically. Dashboard-only does not provide the complete shared-memory layer.

Choose the appropriate mode

For the full memory experience, obtain Obsidian from its official website and select a local destination during setup. The installer does not automatically install Obsidian. If you choose Dashboard-only, do not expect the complete shared-memory layer.

An empty Vault, not sample data

The Starter Vault begins without the creator's projects or private data. Sync adds your data after source and project-map approval. An initially empty view is normal; do not add invented projects or observations just to populate the dashboard.

Memory and transferable exports

Sync builds redacted context packs for discovered projects in 09-Exports. Verification status and provenance must be preserved; assumptions are not facts. Review the project scope and exported content before moving it to another tool; filtering does not replace human review.

Completion checklist

After full setup, open the Vault destination in Obsidian and confirm it is the approved folder. Do not expect preloaded creator data. After sync, review context-pack coverage and items needing review in the Dashboard. If you selected Dashboard-only, the missing full memory layer is an intentional limitation, not an installation failure.
